As a Battery Test and Validation Engineer II at Rivian, you will be part of the Battery Test and Validation team, focusing on the safety, durability, and structural performance of energy storage systems. Your role involves developing and executing experiments to characterize battery assemblies under various mechanical loading conditions. You will collaborate with design and simulation engineers to inform design changes and validate hardware integrity. This position requires a strong foundation in mechanics of materials and structural dynamics to tackle complex design challenges.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 2 to 4+ years of hands-on engineering experience in mechanical testing or experimental structural mechanics.
• Strong understanding of mechanics of materials, vibration theory, and structural dynamics.
• Experience operating mechanical test equipment such as electrodynamic shakers and tensile testing machines.
• Proficiency with data acquisition hardware and standard laboratory instrumentation.

• Plan, coordinate, and execute structural and mechanical validation tests on battery modules and packs.
• Perform tests to characterize the structural dynamics and vibrational responses of the unit under test.
• Design and procure robust mechanical test fixtures that meet structural stiffness requirements.
• Implement sensor instrumentation strategies and oversee the installation of various sensors.
• Post-process and interpret experimental data using advanced analysis tools.
