The Outside Plant Telecom Engineer at Microsoft will design and engineer outside plant routing for metro and long-haul connectivity requirements. This role is part of the Cloud Operations & Innovation team, which focuses on building a world-class network infrastructure. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure compliance with diversity standards and contribute to the core infrastructure for Microsoft's online services. • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
• 8+ years experience in Outside Plant Telecom Engineering is preferred.
• 5+ years designing fiber and OSP, including cable sizing and cable counts.
• Proficiency in CAD and GIS design and mapping tools.

• Conduct Outside Plant optical design, planning, and engineering for new and existing regions.
• Communicate with peers and departments to ensure optical designs meet Microsoft and industry standards.
• Approve vendor designs, conduct site walks, permitting, and perform quality assurance inspections.
• Analyze optical fiber test results for Microsoft's metro, regional fabric, and long-haul networks.
