Job description
As a Mechanical Hardware Engineer at Prime Air, you will lead the mechanical design and integration of avionics hardware for drones. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop mechanical solutions that meet high safety and reliability standards. The role emphasizes strong mechanical design knowledge and the ability to balance cost, reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability. You will also support hardware development from early prototypes through to production and flight stages.
Requirements
- BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- 2+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD experience.
- Relevant experience with drones, electric vehicles, robotics, satellites, or automation.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
- Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Reliability (DFR).
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical hardware, assemblies, fixtures, or test equipment for avionics hardware.
- Create and release 3D models, drawings, specifications, and other engineering documentation.
- Perform engineering analysis and calculations to support design decisions.
- Develop and execute tests to validate designs and investigate failures.
- Participate in design reviews and communicate technical decisions.
- Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Reliability (DFR) initiatives.
- Troubleshoot hardware issues using data and first-principles engineering.
- Support hardware development from early prototype through qualification and production.
