Job description

KLA is seeking an optical engineer to join the INSIGHT engineering development team in Milpitas. This role involves developing and maintaining testing facilities to support ongoing product development. The engineer will work in a clean room environment and will be responsible for building and aligning lasers and test equipment. The position requires collaboration with vendors and may involve international travel for troubleshooting and repairs.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field with at least 3 years of experience, or a Master's degree in optics with 2 years of experience in optical hardware projects is required.
  • Optical training or equivalent work experience in the optical field is necessary.
  • Experience with optical alignment and testing laboratory work is required.
  • Basic optical understanding and mechanical integration experience are essential.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in English is mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Build and align lasers and test equipment while working in a clean room environment.
  • Participate in creating alignment and assembly procedures.
  • Test and collect data, and create results presentations.
  • Manage vendors by acquiring all hardware needed for testing.
  • Travel to vendor sites to repair and troubleshoot KLA test fixtures and occasionally visit the KLA Singapore manufacturing sites.
