Job description

The Solution Architect role at ASE Traffic involves acting as the primary technical partner for engineering teams at Apple integrating with traffic products. This position requires a strong foundation in networking and hands-on experience with Kubernetes and service mesh technologies. The architect will work closely with customer teams to understand their traffic requirements and translate them into integration plans. The focus is on driving technical solutions to completion while fostering relationships across diverse teams.

Requirements

  • Solid networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and TLS/mTLS.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, particularly ingress/egress traffic patterns.
  • Working knowledge of Envoy and/or other service mesh technologies like Istio or Linkerd.
  • Strong ability to gather requirements from customers and translate ambiguity into a clear technical plan.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting technical solutions to engineers of varying seniority.
  • Experience with load balancing strategies, service discovery, and rate limiting at scale.
  • Experience with distributed systems design and analyzing systems for performance or reliability issues.
  • Familiarity with API design for network-related services and inter-process communication.
  • Experience supporting live, customer-facing services in a production environment.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and drive multi-team initiatives to completion.
  • Ability to foster trusting relationships across a diverse set of internal customer teams.
  • Experience with traffic solutions over 3rd-party cloud providers is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the bridge between the platform and engineering teams who depend on it.
  • Meet with customer teams to understand their current traffic architecture and networking requirements.
  • Design integration paths onto Apple's managed traffic products.
  • Translate customer requirements into concrete integration plans.
  • Identify and help close feature gaps during the integration process.
  • Drive technical solutions to completion while managing competing priorities.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
