Job description
The Senior Sourcing Engineer for Integrated Components at Microsoft Devices Operations will lead the sourcing strategy and business performance for critical semiconductor technologies. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure resilient and cost-effective hardware solutions for products like Surface and Xbox. The engineer will manage supplier relationships and drive negotiations to maintain a competitive advantage in the market. Success in this position requires a blend of technical expertise, commercial acumen, and strategic thinking.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 3+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles.
- OR Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 4+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles.
- OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end sourcing strategy and supply chain performance for assigned semiconductor and IC categories.
- Serve as the single accountable leader for supplier strategy, commercial outcomes, supply continuity, risk management, and overall business performance within the category.
- Develop and execute long-term sourcing strategies that align supplier roadmaps with Microsoft Devices product objectives.
- Lead executive-level supplier relationships and drive strategic partnerships and commercial negotiations.
- Partner with various teams to influence critical design, sourcing, and business decisions.
- Drive end-to-end supplier selection and qualification processes.
- Own supply chain resiliency strategies to mitigate risk and ensure uninterrupted supply.
- Anticipate and resolve systemic supply chain challenges impacting quality, cost, delivery, lead times, or capacity.
- Lead contracting activities and ensure agreements address business objectives and risk allocation.
- Deliver measurable improvements in cost, quality, supply assurance, and operational performance.
- Champion strategic initiatives with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Provide thought leadership on market dynamics, supplier ecosystems, technology trends, and sourcing best practices.
