Job description

The Mechanical Engineering Intern will join the Energy & Power team at Jacobs, focusing on applying engineering knowledge to real-world challenges. This role involves working closely with experienced engineers on various projects aimed at driving sustainable progress in energy markets. Interns will have the opportunity to explore different engineering interests or specialize in specific projects. The internship is designed to provide a gratifying experience through training, site visits, and social engagements.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program for Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Completed lower-classman level coursework such as thermodynamics, mechanics of materials, and engineering computation and numerical methods.
  • An interest in learning and gaining experience with engineering tools such as hydraulic modeling, heat transfer, and computer-aided drafting.
  • Familiarity or experience with 3D modeling software such as Revit, AutoCAD, or CADWorx.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering design tasks related to thermal fluid systems and district energy systems.
  • Conduct piping, ducting, and equipment sizing.
  • Engage in stress analysis and flow modeling.
  • Participate in energy modeling and life cycle cost analysis.
  • Develop deliverables such as Computer Aided Drafting and Building Information Modeling.
