Job description

The Mechanical Engineering Intern role at Jacobs focuses on supporting the Energy & Power team in solving engineering challenges related to energy markets. Interns will work closely with experienced engineers on various projects, gaining hands-on experience in mechanical engineering design. The team is dedicated to driving sustainable progress and helping clients achieve decarbonization goals. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program for Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Completed lower-classman level coursework such as thermodynamics, mechanics of materials, and engineering computation and numerical methods.
  • An interest in learning and gaining experience with engineering tools such as hydraulic modeling, heat transfer, and computer-aided drafting.
  • Familiarity or experience with 3D modeling software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and CADWorx.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate into a team of experienced engineers and report to a senior engineer.
  • Perform engineering design tasks including thermal fluid system design and district energy system design.
  • Conduct deliverable development tasks such as Computer Aided Drafting and Building Information Modeling.
  • Engage in engineering tasks such as piping, ducting, and equipment sizing, as well as stress and flow modeling.
