The Senior Software Engineer - CoreAI role is part of the Azure Functions Platform team, focusing on building and operating the core components of Azure's serverless platform. This position involves designing, implementing, and maintaining distributed systems that ensure reliable execution of customer workloads. The engineer will tackle complex distributed-systems challenges and enhance the operational maturity of a rapidly growing cloud service. • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

• Design, implement, test, and ship platform capabilities and services for Azure Functions.
• Build and maintain large-scale distributed systems, focusing on reliability, availability, scalability, performance, security, and cost efficiency.
• Own services through their full lifecycle, including design, development, deployment, monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, repair work, and continuous improvement.
• Use logs, metrics, traces, telemetry, testing, and automation to proactively identify issues and improve production health.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues in running online services.
• Develop and improve platform tooling and automation for safe deployments, regression detection, rollback, and operational readiness.
• Partner with engineers and stakeholders across teams to define requirements and deliver maintainable solutions.
• Contribute to architecture and design reviews, code reviews, engineering standards, and technical direction for platform components.
• Mentor other engineers and help strengthen engineering practices across the team.
