You will lead the UI architecture, ensuring a seamless experience on Mac, touch screens, and spatial displays. This position requires collaboration with design and engineering teams to create a cohesive user experience. Your work will impact millions of users and involve mentoring engineers while addressing complex synchronization challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including time as the technical lead for a large, shipping client application or framework
  • Deep object-oriented programming experience, and mastery of at least one Apple UI framework
  • Experience with leveraging agentic coding tools for high velocity prototyping and code changes
  • Experience architecting UI at scale, including shared components, state, and data flow
  • Experience owning the architecture of a large, long-lived codebase
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills in a highly collaborative environment
  • Ability to deeply analyze multi-client synchronization problems
  • Experience with file systems, cloud sync, or file provider architectures
  • Experience with building agentic harnesses
  • History of mentoring engineers and raising the technical depth of a team
  • Upbeat, adaptable, and results oriented with a positive attitude

Responsibilities

  • Own the UI architecture of the Finder and Files clients, including the view layer and data flow.
  • Partner with design from the initial concept to the final product, ensuring a cohesive architecture.
  • Collaborate with file systems and frameworks teams to define UI requirements.
  • Set the engineering bar through design and code reviews, and create prototypes to mitigate risks.
  • Mentor engineers and enhance the technical discussions within the team.
  • Champion the use of agentic coding tools for rapid prototyping and large-scale code changes.
  • Diagnose and resolve synchronization issues and responsiveness challenges.
  • Work through rapid development cycles while maintaining flexibility and composure.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
