Job description

The Azure Core New Tech team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to enhance the software platform that integrates new racks into Microsoft datacenters. This role focuses on developing hardware acceptance software that ensures racks meet production readiness standards. The engineer will tackle complex system challenges and drive features from conception through implementation and monitoring. The position emphasizes collaboration across various teams and offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge hardware in a flexible environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
  • 3+ years of experience owning substantial software scenarios through design, implementation, and rollout.
  • 2+ years of experience developing production software in a managed, object-oriented language such as C# or Java.
  • 1+ year of experience with hardware validation automation, provisioning workflows, or networking concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead features from proposal and architectural design through implementation, testing, rollout, production monitoring, and refinement.
  • Translate evolving hardware and operational requirements into clear workflows and rollout plans.
  • Improve the concurrency, reliability, maintainability, observability, and performance of long-running workflows.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, networking, firmware, driver, manufacturing, and datacenter teams to resolve system-level problems.
  • Write clear technical documentation and mentor engineers through design and implementation tradeoffs.

Benefits

  • Employees at Microsoft are often offered comprehensive, “world-class” benefits—including health and mental-wellness programs, competitive pay with bonuses and stock awards, and retirement/savings options. Time-off and flexibility are common, with generous vacation and holidays, parental and caregiver leave, and flexible work schedules, alongside learning support, employee resource groups, product discounts, and matching-gifts/volunteering programs. Specific benefits can vary by region.
