This team focuses on measuring system, sensor, and feature performance across Apple's hardware programs. The manager will advise leadership on product readiness and set the technical direction for testing frameworks and infrastructure. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of experience in quality, test, or software engineering, including 2+ years managing engineers.
- Experience as a senior or lead engineer designing test automation frameworks or infrastructure.
- Experience setting test strategy for embedded firmware or system software.
- Ability to review code and designs in Python and at least one of Swift, Objective-C, or C/C++.
- Experience validating health, fitness, or sensor-based features, including supporting user studies or testing in regulated environments.
- Experience with Apple test frameworks such as XCTest or XCUITest.
- Experience debugging embedded firmware using logs, traces, and instrumented builds.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, test fixtures, and lab instrumentation.
- Experience with early hardware bring-up and shipping high-volume consumer hardware.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of quality engineers to measure system, sensor, and feature performance.
- Advise leadership on whether each product is ready to ship.
- Decide what gets tested and how, setting the technical direction for test frameworks.
- Lead code reviews and guide test architecture and system design.
- Work closely with hardware, firmware, and software teams.
- Turn test results into clear, evidence-based recommendations on product readiness.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
