As a Security Engineer III at Amazon, you will lead efforts to reduce security risks across teams, addressing complex challenges that protect millions of customers. You will design security controls, conduct reviews, and create solutions that streamline processes for engineering teams. The role requires collaboration with product and system owners to ensure secure design decisions and effective communication of security risks. You will also mentor other security engineers and contribute to the establishment of mature security practices within the team.

• 4+ years of non-internship experience in troubleshooting systems issues, analyzing logs, or automating complex tasks using command line tools.
• 5+ years of experience in identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans.
• 4+ years of experience in scripting, programming, and security code review in common programming languages.
• Knowledge of at least two programming languages such as Scala, Java, Python, C/C++, or Go.
• Experience in identifying industry-based security vulnerabilities, attack patterns, and remediation techniques.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
• Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques.
• Experience with security in service-oriented architectures/microservices and web services.

• Lead complex security reviews, threat modeling exercises, and security investigations across teams.
• Design and build security frameworks, runbooks, and rubrics for new problem domains.
• Engage proactively with product and system owners to review architectures and validate security controls.
• Communicate security risk and design decisions clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Mentor and coach multiple security engineers and contribute to hiring assessments.
