The Sr. Physical Design STA Engineer will be responsible for the design and optimization of hardware in AWS data centers, focusing on technologies like AWS Inferentia. This role is part of the Cloud-Scale Machine Learning Acceleration team, which aims to deliver high performance at low cost. The engineer will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with other physical design engineers and RTL/Arch teams. The position requires a commitment to high standards and continuous improvement in product performance and quality.

• Experience in one or more scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, or Perl.
• Bachelor's degree plus 8 years, Master's degree plus 6 years, or PhD plus 4 years in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
• Expertise in timing analysis fundamentals.
• At least 3 years of experience in Static Timing Analysis.
• At least 3 years of experience with timing constraint development.
• Experience with EDA tools for Timing Analysis, such as PrimeTime or Tempus.
• Understanding of ASIC Physical Design from RTL to GDSII.
• Familiarity with sign-off activities including IR/EM, physical verification, and DFT.
• Experience in mentoring, leading, and coaching.
• Expertise in developing flows using STA tools like PrimeTime or Tempus.
• Expertise in ECO flows such as PT-DMSA or Tempus-ECO.
• Experience with advanced nodes of 16nm or below.
• Expertise in parasitic extraction tools like STAR-RC or Quantus.
• Experience with circuit level analysis using tools like SPICE or SPECTRE.
• Experience with timing of IO interfaces such as DDR, HBM, PCIe, and Die-to-Die.

• Develop and maintain flows for block and full-chip level static timing analysis.
• Write, debug, and validate timing constraints for blocks and full-chip.
• Run Static Timing Analysis and provide frequent feedback to team members and leads.
• Provide guidance on fixing timing issues by generating ECOs and fixing constraint issues.
• Develop scripts to automate the running of timing analysis and generate reports.
• Collaborate effectively with other physical design engineers and the RTL/Arch teams.
