Job description

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Engineer to enhance the performance of large language models focused on code generation and software engineering tasks. This role involves working at the intersection of model training, inference optimization, and empirical analysis to improve coding model capabilities and developer productivity. The engineer will collaborate with research scientists and product teams to turn insights into production-ready capabilities. The position emphasizes the development of frameworks and pipelines to analyze and optimize coding model performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or AI with 12+ years of meaningful work experience.
  • Excellent programming skills in Python and a strong understanding of large language models and transformer architectures.
  • Foundational understanding of reinforcement learning algorithms and implementation.
  • Deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals, code generation, and program correctness.
  • Proven track record in leading model development life cycles, including dataset versioning and experiment tracking.

Responsibilities

  • Develop meticulous frameworks to measure and analyze coding model performance across various software engineering tasks.
  • Develop and optimize post-training pipelines for coding models, including supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning.
  • Analyze benchmark results, training dynamics, and model behaviors to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Improve model performance on coding tasks through targeted training interventions and iterative error analysis.
  • Build scalable and reproducible infrastructure for training experiments and model performance analysis.

Benefits

  • Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
