This role is for a skilled engineer specializing in C programming within the EC2 Core Compute team at AWS. The team focuses on managing EC2 instances utilizing the Nitro system, integrating hardware and software to deliver high-performance services. The engineer will work on software that provides essential services to customer instances and EC2 dataplane applications. This position offers the opportunity to design and build reliable services that operate at massive scale while ensuring security and performance.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• Professional experience working on the Linux Kernel
• Professional experience in C programming
• Proficient in at least one CPU architecture such as x86 or ARM
• Understanding of operating system internals
• Extensive professional experience working on a hypervisor, such as kvm, xen or hyper-v
• Solid understanding of performance-critical areas of the Linux Kernel

• Design, develop, test, and deploy large-scale software running across AWS data centers.
• Collaborate closely with EC2 teams to curate the team’s roadmap.
• Drive the system architecture and spearhead best practices for quality products.
• Coach and develop junior engineers.
• Debug complex issues affecting service performance and optimize critical paths in the codebase.
• Coordinate with partner teams to ensure smooth integration between services.
