Job description

As a Software Engineer on the Vulcan team, you will develop intelligent robotic systems that integrate hardware and software innovations. Your work will focus on building and operating machine learning infrastructure for robotic workcells across Amazon's fulfillment network. You will collaborate with hardware engineers, roboticists, and data scientists to ensure the software integrates seamlessly into functioning systems. This role offers the chance to see your code directly impact physical robotic systems and contribute to the next generation of robotic automation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
  • Experience as a mentor or tech lead in an engineering team
  • Experience building complex software systems involving deep learning, machine learning, and computer vision
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Deploy computer vision and machine learning systems that enable robots to perceive and grasp their environment
  • Build and maintain ML training and evaluation pipelines for computer vision and manipulation models
  • Design model deployment and rollback infrastructure across lab and production robotic workcells
  • Develop data pipelines for ingesting, curating, and versioning training data from robotic fleet telemetry
  • Implement model monitoring, drift detection, and alerting to ensure production model health
  • Automate experiment tracking, A/B testing, and model validation workflows
  • Own CI/CD for ML, including automated testing, packaging, and promotion of model artifacts
  • Partner with ML scientists and roboticists to operationalize research models into production systems

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
