This position involves defining high-risk access patterns, driving design decisions to lower access risks, and partnering with engineering teams to implement effective security measures. The team is dedicated to building tools that enhance security while ensuring that good security practices are integrated into the product development process. Candidates will have the opportunity to mentor others and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in security practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship background in troubleshooting systems issues, analyzing logs, or automating complex tasks using command line tools.

- Knowledge of at least two of the following programming languages: Scala, Java, Python, C/C++, or Go.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
- Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques.
- Experience with security in service-oriented architectures/microservices and web services.
Responsibilities
- Define what counts as high-risk human access to production systems and the data they hold.
- Drive design decisions that lower access risk by default through scoped and time-bound credentials.
- Partner with engineering teams across the organization to reduce risky access and measure the reduction over time.
- Build measurement and detection capabilities to show where risky access exists and prioritize work.
- Investigate security issues involving human access and implement durable improvements.
- Mentor software and security engineers and represent the team's security posture to leadership.
Benefits
- Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs.
