The Network Development Engineer role at AWS focuses on supporting and maintaining next-generation networks while delivering sustainable and repeatable solutions. You will work closely with various teams to ensure operational readiness for new deployments and drive compliance with network standards. The position involves troubleshooting interconnectivity issues and improving detection mechanisms. You will also participate in large-scale event management and contribute to documentation and process improvements.

• 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
• 4+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
• 4+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
• Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals such as BGP, OSPF and other R&S technologies
• Experience with networking fundamentals including hands-on experience with load balancers, switches, routers, etc.

• Support and maintain our next generation networks.
• Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
• Work closely with our broader Network Engineering & Deployment teams to ensure operational readiness for new deployments.
• Drive standards across the network and ensure compliance with those standards and policies.
• Participate and drive impact mitigation during large-scale events utilizing an established Event Management process.
• Drive event deep dives for large-scale events, deliver high-quality documentation for the events and drive corrective actions to completion.
• Improve our detection mechanisms by designing and implementing new alerts.
• Create and review documentation and processes regarding recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, and knowledge transfer material.
• Troubleshoot interconnectivity issues, including troubleshooting of network device configuration and low-level application interaction.
• Identify and drive opportunities to automate repeatable tasks through creation and maintenance of scripts and tools.
