The team is focused on building the platform that Apple engineers use to work with AI agents, including the marketplace and plugin ecosystem. The backend engineer will own and grow the service that enables engineers to discover, install, and trust various plugins and skills. This role involves working on schema design, content hosting, and ensuring the reliability and security of the service. The ideal candidate will enjoy tackling new challenges in a rapidly evolving problem space.

• 5+ years of industry experience as a Software Engineer working on deploying large-scale systems
• Strong understanding of data-centric systems, distributed systems, reliability, and cloud services
• Hands-on experience in designing and coding large-scale systems
• Proven experience with applied machine learning, data engineering, or similar
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related experience
• Experience with developer tools or developer productivity systems
• Experience with open source or inner source
• Master's degree in Computer Science or related experience

• Own and grow the service behind the marketplace and plugin ecosystem
• Design schema for a growing catalog of plugins, servers, and endorsements
• Manage content hosting and pipelines that ingest plugin source and authentication
• Implement supply-chain checks to ensure the security of the plugin marketplace
• Harden the service for production with real uptime expectations and safe rollouts
• Make database and caching decisions that support growth in catalog and install volume
• Collaborate closely with engineers building client-side harnesses that consume the API
• Work with security-minded reviewers to maintain the safety of the catalog
