Job description

The senior engineering role at Apple focuses on the development and integration of advanced AR/VR optical modules within the Display Module Technology team. This position involves guiding projects from early concept stages through to product engineering validation builds. The role requires managing complex technical challenges and aligning cross-functional teams with external manufacturing partners. The team operates in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, aiming to bring innovative hardware concepts to reality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent job-related experience with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Experience in process development and integration for advanced optics/display modules, consumer electronics, or high-precision optical hardware.
  • Experience leading Design for Manufacturability (DFM) initiatives from early architecture and concept phases through engineering validation builds.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting root-cause failure analysis and defining corrective-action strategies for multi-variable manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Master's degree or PhD in an engineering discipline, Materials Science, Optics, or related field.
  • In-depth technical experience developing assembly, integration, and packaging processes specifically for AR/VR display systems, micro-displays, or high-precision optical sub-assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key technical focal point in the process development and integration of advanced AR/VR optical modules.
  • Guide projects from early concept and architecture stages through product engineering validation builds.
  • Drive the display or optical module process end to end, from proof-of-concept to volume manufacturing.
  • Manage complex technical challenges across disciplines and align cross-functional teams with external manufacturing partners.
  • Synthesize high-volume, ambiguous, or contradictory technical data to solve persistent engineering challenges.
  • Achieve aggressive milestones and deliver breakthrough technical results under challenging circumstances.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
