The Tools and Automation Engineer will be part of the iCloud Quality Engineering team, focusing on building and evolving the test automation ecosystem for iCloud's core products across iOS, macOS, and the web. This role involves designing frameworks, tools, and infrastructure that enhance testing reliability and scalability. The engineer will drive automation initiatives to improve test coverage and engineering efficiency while collaborating with cross-functional teams. A strong emphasis is placed on applying AI to enhance testing workflows within the Apple ecosystem.

• 4+ years of experience in test automation, software development in test, or quality engineering.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Swift, or a comparable language.
• Proven track record of building and maintaining production-quality automation code.
• Experience designing and building automated test frameworks and tools.
• Experience writing test plans and creating automated UI tests with XCTest, WebDriver, or equivalent tools.
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, testing methodologies, and QA processes.
• Experience working with CI systems and test infrastructure.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience leading quality for a cross-functional project or owning automation for a product area end to end.
• Experience mentoring engineers or setting technical direction for an automation codebase.
• Experience integrating LLMs or agentic workflows into developer and QA tooling.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants to speed up test authoring, debugging, and automation development.
• Experience building internal developer tools or test infrastructure.
• Familiarity with API, integration, and UI automation strategies.
• Hands-on experience with Apple platforms (iOS, macOS) and the web.
• Experience improving test reliability and reducing flakiness in large-scale environments.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
