The Apple AI platform within the Apple Services Engineering organization is seeking a Machine Learning engineer to develop managed platform services that integrate machine learning, distributed systems, and production engineering. This role focuses on optimizing and enhancing AI systems to operate efficiently at scale. The team is responsible for the entire AI lifecycle, including data preparation, model training, and deployment. Candidates should be excited about working in a fast-paced environment and navigating ambiguity.

• 3+ years of experience building production ML systems or ML infrastructure
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or Rust/Java
• Understanding of end-to-end machine learning workflows from data preparation through training, evaluation, and deployment
• Experience with distributed systems and large-scale data processing
• Experience with model serving, inference optimization, or ML pipeline engineering
• Experience building APIs and services that other engineers consume
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Experience with LLM inference optimization techniques
• Experience with model serving frameworks
• Experience with embedding models and retrieval systems
• Experience with fine-tuning and alignment workflows
• Experience with feature engineering and feature serving platforms
• Experience with distributed data processing frameworks
• Experience with cloud GPU infrastructure
• Experience with ML governance, lineage, or compliance systems
