Job description

The Software Engineer role at Netflix focuses on building the common infrastructure for data curation within the Model Evaluations and Data Curation team. This team is responsible for creating high-quality training datasets and benchmarks for foundational models, driving innovation in AI-powered member experiences. The engineer will work on transforming data using LLMs and developing reusable components to streamline data curation processes. Collaboration with researchers is essential to ensure that data quality positively impacts model performance.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering skills in Python, with experience in building reusable infrastructure, libraries, or frameworks.
  • Experience in building LLM-driven data generation or transformation pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with data quality methods, including sampling strategies and filtering.
  • Modeling intuition to understand how data choices affect model behavior.
  • Experience with distributed data processing technologies such as Spark or Ray.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, particularly with researchers and data scientists.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build shared data curation infrastructure to replace ad-hoc notebooks.
  • Build scalable LLM-driven data transformation pipelines from raw sources.
  • Develop sampling strategies for constructing training and evaluation sets.
  • Create filtering and quality-control methods to maximize data quality.
  • Partner with researchers to measure the impact of curation choices on model performance.
  • Make curated datasets discoverable artifacts with versioning and reproducibility.
  • Drive adoption of shared curation practices across MEDC and partner modeling teams.

Benefits

  • Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
