Job description
The intern will join the Mechatronics team in KLA's RAPID Division, focusing on developing a model-based control framework for a precision motion stage. This role involves building a high-fidelity dynamic model from measured stage performance and designing a robust controller using modern control methods. The intern will deploy the controller to the stage hardware and measure its performance. This position offers an opportunity to work on advanced technologies in semiconductor manufacturing.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an MS or PhD program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with frequency-domain loop shaping and robust control synthesis.
- Familiarity with multivariable (MIMO) systems and modal analysis.
- Knowledge of practical controller implementation and real-time embedded control.
- Experience with Python for data analysis.
Responsibilities
- Develop a model-based control framework for a precision motion stage.
- Build a high-fidelity dynamic model from measured stage performance.
- Design a robust controller using modern model-based control methods.
- Deploy the controller to the stage hardware and measure its performance.
- Document and present technical results related to the project.
Benefits
- Employees at KLA are often offered competitive pay with bonuses, a 401(k) match, an employee stock purchase program, and financial perks like student-debt assistance, planning support, and group insurance discounts.
