The Staff Software Engineer for Watch SW Remote Compose at Google will focus on developing the next-generation technologies for Android devices. This role involves defining the technical roadmap and architecture for the RemoteCompose rendering stack across various platforms. The engineer will work with cross-functional teams to integrate and scale the player while ensuring code health standards and mentoring other engineers. • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
• 5 years of experience with Android application development.
• 5 years of experience with Linux Kernel, operating systems, and embedded systems.

• Define the multi-year technical roadmap and architecture for the RemoteCompose rendering stack across Android platform surfaces and form factors.
• Design the multi-target execution model across Android, microcontrollers, and Web, defining platform abstraction layers and deterministic rendering across runtimes.
• Partner across Android platform engineering, UI frameworks, system surfaces, and product teams to integrate and scale the player.
• Set code health standards, memory/performance budgets, and review practices while mentoring engineers across the team.
• Implement 2D vector rendering, path math/morphing, AGSL shader pipelines, and curved/anchored text shaping for memory-constrained co-processors.
