Apple is looking for a product design engineer to join the Retail, Event, & Channel Product Design team. This diverse group focuses on creating innovative fixtures and hardware solutions for showcasing Apple products in retail and special events. The role involves applying knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies while considering the full lifecycle of designs. Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams are essential for success in this position.

• B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• 5+ years demonstrated ability in mechanical design, preferably in consumer electronics or furniture and fixture design
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a command of engineering fundamentals
• Strong communication and presentation skills to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling and workflows
• Ability to travel up to 15% domestically and internationally
• Experience working with contract manufacturers in an OEM or JDM model
• Experience selecting and designing in plastic, metal, wood, ceramics, and glass
• Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
• Experience in FEA and analysis tools
• Experience in failure and root cause analysis and DFMEA
• Experience with electro-mechanical integration including connectors, batteries, and electronics packaging

• Scope, design, and engineer products that meet customer requirements
• Balance performance, aesthetics, customer experience, reliability, manufacturability, cost, installation, and maintenance in design solutions
• Engage in technology development and concept generation
• Conduct detailed design, analysis, and testing through mass production
• Drive issues to resolution across multiple projects
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
