The Director of Engineering for Google Global Fleet, Tier -1, will lead the development of capacity planning, forecasting, and allocation systems for Google's infrastructure. This role involves collaborating with business leaders to address both short and long-term capacity needs, utilizing AI techniques to enhance delivery velocity. The position requires a strong focus on engineering excellence and team culture, as well as mentoring and developing technical leaders. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the technical and organizational strategy for the team.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of experience in distributed computing infrastructure.
• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science/Engineering is preferred.
• 10 years of experience building and leading teams is preferred.

• Provide execution leadership on software engineering projects, including resourcing and prioritization.
• Set the technical, organizational, and business strategy in partnership with technical leads and managers.
• Contribute to the shared mission of Google Global Fleet as part of the leadership team.
• Evolve and scale current services and systems to meet current needs and future architectural evolution.
