The Principal Engineer for GDC Storage at Google Cloud will lead the execution of storage and data protection strategies within the Google Distributed Cloud team. This role involves collaborating with software engineers, product managers, and engineering managers to define and implement a roadmap for storage solutions targeting public sector, retail, and telecom markets. The position requires a strong focus on high-performance block storage, shared file storage, and large-scale object storage. The engineer will also influence technical strategies and inspire teams while ensuring trust among stakeholders.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of experience in cloud computing, including enterprise applications, infrastructure, storage, platforms, and data.
• 10 years of experience building enterprise storage systems.
• Experience with private and public cloud design considerations, including virtualization and security.
• Experience providing technical guidance and collaborating with teams to deliver services.

• Collaborate with peer tech leads to develop a strategic roadmap for reliability improvements.
• Work with a global team of engineers and product managers to balance architecture, time-to-market, and business goals.
• Drive the development of systems, tools, and infrastructure to enhance the scalability of GDC Storage.
• Lead the overall technical strategy for storage within GDC.
