The Performance Team within Developer Experience is seeking an experienced software engineer to build and scale a performance testing platform for Apple's search capabilities. This role focuses on creating infrastructure that allows developers to test and validate performance before deployment. You will work closely with product and information intelligence teams to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the platform. The work involves processing large volumes of traffic data to help teams catch performance regressions prior to shipping.

• 5+ years of experience in software development, including designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems and backend infrastructure.
• Strong interest in building performance tooling.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Statistical/analytical experience projecting how dev-environment results map to production behavior.
• Hands-on experience designing load test frameworks, including traffic capture/replay and concurrency control.
• Experience with observability tooling for root-causing performance regressions.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, workflow orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines for automating test infrastructure.
