The Sustaining Reliability Engineer at Rivian will focus on maintaining the reliability of various electrical systems throughout their lifecycle. This role involves collaboration with design, validation, and manufacturing teams to enhance product robustness. The engineer will analyze failure modes and develop testing plans to ensure sustained product reliability. A strong technical background and a passion for reliability engineering are essential for success in this position.

• Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
• One or more years of industry experience in a reliability engineering role is preferred.
• Strong technical background with a passion for reliability engineering.
• Proficiency in Ongoing Reliability Testing and Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS).
• Experience utilizing DFMEAs and PFMEAs to ensure continuous product reliability.
• Solid understanding of the physics of failure, particularly for mechanical and structural components.
• Demonstrated expertise in root cause analysis techniques and test program development.
• Working knowledge of a coding language, preferably Python, and statistical reliability software.

• Play a key role in maintaining the reliability of Rivian's HV Battery, Drive Unit, Low Voltage Electrical, and High Voltage Electrical systems.
• Define and oversee ongoing reliability testing requirements for components, subsystems, and assemblies.
• Analyze Design and Production FMEAs to derive comprehensive ongoing reliability testing plans.
• Collaborate with the reliability team to engineer accelerated test requirements.
• Develop and specify reliability validation plans for critical components and subsystems.
• Determine optimal sample sizes and test durations for reliability validation programs.
• Lead root cause failure analysis for testing-related failures and drive cross-functional resolution.
• Manage partnerships with internal and external testing facilities for ongoing reliability testing programs.
• Conduct ongoing risk assessments throughout the reliability program lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Field Reliability and Failure Analysis teams to integrate lessons learned into future product designs.
