Job description

The AI Product Engineer at Rivian will focus on building and deploying enterprise tools and automations to enhance operational efficiency within the Facilities organization. This role involves utilizing AI-native development tools to address real-world challenges in construction project reporting, capital program tracking, and building management. The engineer will collaborate closely with Facilities stakeholders to identify inefficiencies and create solutions that deliver measurable savings. A strong emphasis will be placed on understanding the business and iterating on prototypes based on user feedback.

Requirements

  • 4+ years in a technical role such as software development, product ownership, or technical program management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience building with AI-assisted coding tools like Cursor, Codex, or Claude Code.
  • Working knowledge of prompt engineering, AI agent design, and LLM application development.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of Agile methodologies, version control (Git), and secure deployment pipelines.
  • Strong UI/UX instincts with the ability to produce functional interfaces without a design team.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in both leadership and project team settings.
  • Self-directed and able to thrive in ambiguous environments.

Responsibilities

  • Build internal applications, AI agents, and workflow automations targeting specific Facilities pain points.
  • Stand up no-code and low-code solutions that can be maintained by non-technical team members.
  • Connect Facilities data sources via APIs to support intelligent workflows.
  • Own the full software development lifecycle by managing sprint cycles and defining technical requirements.
  • Conduct code reviews on peer-built AI tools and enhance deployed solutions based on user feedback.
  • Rapidly build working knowledge of Facilities operations by shadowing project managers and construction teams.
  • Document solutions and create reusable templates for internal playbooks.
  • Partner with Facilities stakeholders to understand workflows and prioritize automations.
  • Translate operational needs into working prototypes and iterate based on user feedback.
  • Help track and report the impact of deployed solutions on operational efficiency.

Benefits

  • Employees at Rivian are often offered comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with company match, ESPP and potential RSU grants, performance bonuses, and generous time off including paid parental and sick leave. Perks can include 24/7 mental-health coaching and therapy, Hinge Health for Anthem enrollees, tuition assistance and professional development, plus on-site food and a wide range of employee discounts on items like computers, mobile phones, home loans, and pet care.
