As a Modem Software Engineer at Qualcomm, you will be part of the Modem Systems Software team, which focuses on developing low-level firmware and protocol software for cellular connectivity. This role emphasizes AI-native development practices, leveraging advanced AI tools to enhance the software development lifecycle. You will work closely with embedded systems, optimizing real-time software for Qualcomm's modem subsystem. Your contributions will directly impact the performance and efficiency of modem software across a wide range of devices.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience, or a Master's degree with 1+ year of experience, or a PhD.
• 2+ years of experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
• Strong command of data structures and algorithms.
• Deep understanding of operating systems concepts including scheduling, concurrency, and memory management.
• Proven programming proficiency in modern C/C++ (C++17 and beyond).
• Experience with embedded software on DSP and Arm architectures.

• Design, implement, and optimize real-time embedded modem software across protocol layers, drivers, and platform services.
• Apply rigorous data-structure and algorithm design to build efficient firmware components.
• Own end-to-end feature delivery including requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
• Pioneer AI-native development practices within the team by integrating AI coding agents into workflows.
• Build and maintain AI-assisted tooling for code review and automated crash/log triage.
• Debug and root-cause complex issues on target hardware using AI-assisted analysis.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with systems, hardware, test, and integration teams.
• Contribute to code reviews and continuous improvement of engineering standards.
• Mentor peers on embedded fundamentals and AI-native engineering techniques.
