The Cloud Modernization Senior Engineer at EY focuses on transforming government and infrastructure through digital engineering. This role involves assessing current application hosting environments and defining future cloud strategies. The engineer will work within a diverse team to build secure cloud environments that support AI-enabled modernization. The position emphasizes innovative solutions to help clients achieve their mission outcomes.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, computer engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret level clearance.
• 3-6 years of experience in cloud, infrastructure or DevOps roles.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure across compute, networking, storage, identity and monitoring services.
• Infrastructure-as-Code experience with Terraform or Bicep.
• Experience with containers such as Docker and working knowledge of Kubernetes.
• Networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls and private connectivity.
• Linux and Windows Server administration skills.
• Scripting experience in PowerShell, Bash or Python.
• Must be comfortable working in-person as needed in the Washington, DC area.

• Inventory and assess current hosting for each application across various environments.
• Evaluate cloud readiness and identify blockers affecting migration.
• Define target hosting patterns and migration approaches, producing effort and cost estimates.
• Build, configure and operate secure cloud environments for AI-enabled platforms.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code modules and templates for reuse.
• Apply Zero Trust principles and NIST SP 800-53 control requirements to environment designs.
• Implement observability and cost monitoring for cloud resources.
• Identify shared-platform and infrastructure dependencies impacting rationalization decisions.
• Document architectures, configurations and operational runbooks.
• Lead target-state infrastructure architecture for groups of applications.
