Job description

The Windows Cloud Experiences team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to enhance the Windows App, which connects users to Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, and remote PCs. This role focuses on Windows client and platform engineering, addressing complex challenges in operating systems, networking, and identity. The engineer will work collaboratively within a fast-paced team, emphasizing technical depth and customer-centric solutions. Responsibilities include mentoring other engineers and ensuring high-quality customer experiences through robust software design and implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C++ or C# is preferred.
  • Production experience designing, implementing, debugging, and shipping software in modern C++.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and ship native Windows client features using modern C++ and C#.
  • Own Windows App scenarios across resource discovery, connection setup, authentication, OS integration, reliability, and performance.
  • Develop secure, scalable, and maintainable components that span processes, threads, services, client applications, and cloud-backed experiences.
  • Diagnose complex problems using debuggers, dumps, traces, logs, and telemetry.
  • Drive features through the full engineering lifecycle including architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Partner with various teams to deliver coherent end-to-end customer experiences.
  • Raise the engineering bar for performance, reliability, accessibility, security, testability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Mentor engineers, lead technical discussions, and create clarity in ambiguous or cross-team problem spaces.

Benefits

  • Employees at Microsoft are often offered comprehensive, “world-class” benefits—including health and mental-wellness programs, competitive pay with bonuses and stock awards, and retirement/savings options. Time-off and flexibility are common, with generous vacation and holidays, parental and caregiver leave, and flexible work schedules, alongside learning support, employee resource groups, product discounts, and matching-gifts/volunteering programs. Specific benefits can vary by region.
