The Principal Software Engineer role on the Azure Local AKS team focuses on designing and delivering software that automates the provisioning, upgrading, and management of AKS clusters on Azure Local. This globally distributed team is dedicated to extending Azure's cloud capabilities to various environments, including on-premises and edge locations. The position involves mentoring fellow engineers and making architectural decisions while solving complex problems in networking and virtualization. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for both in-office collaboration and remote work flexibility.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
• Experience in building, shipping, and operating reliable on-premise cloud infrastructure.
• Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes and Linux Operating Systems.

• Partner with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of scenarios.
• Lead the identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
• Mentor others to produce extensible and maintainable code used across products.
• Drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items by leveraging subject-matter expertise.
• Hold accountability as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
• Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns to improve product performance.
