The Principal Software Engineer will be part of the Agent 365 Security team at Microsoft, focusing on building high-scale, inclusive experiences for managing AI agent security and governance. This role involves solving complex distributed system problems and collaborating with various teams to enhance user experiences. The engineer will work across both front-end and back-end engineering, driving architecture and technical direction. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring and influencing engineering practices while addressing emerging security challenges.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Hands-on experience building and delivering LLM-powered applications or agents.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems or cloud services.

• Lead the architecture and design of scalable AI infrastructure.
• Define and drive end-to-end architecture for Agent Security, Policy, and Tool Governance.
• Establish technical strategy and engineering frameworks for experimentation and evaluation.
• Define success criteria and lead analysis of experimentation scorecards.
• Partner closely with Product Managers and engineering leaders to define scenarios and measurable success criteria.
• Lead data acquisition and evaluation-data strategy.
• Provide technical leadership across teams, driving architectural alignment.
• Identify systemic technical risks and opportunities and drive solutions.
