The Principal Software Engineer will join the Microsoft Entra ID team, focusing on building and operating critical authentication and directory services for millions of users worldwide. This role emphasizes modern software engineering practices and aims to evolve the directory store platform to meet future needs. The team is dedicated to creating secure, reliable, and efficient software solutions that enhance user experiences across Microsoft's cloud services. Candidates will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in storage and distributed systems.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 15+ years technical engineering experience with coding OR equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience designing, building, and operating scalable, highly available cloud services or distributed systems on platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP, or comparable cloud environments.
• 3+ years of experience building systems with emphasis on reliability, durability, and operational efficiency.

• Design and develop large-scale distributed software services and solutions.
• Drive modern software engineering practices through design and code reviews.
• Perform system design with well-defined interfaces across multiple components.
• Develop best-in-class engineering for our services, ensuring components are modular, secure, reliable, diagnosable, actively monitored, and reusable.
• Troubleshoot and optimize automation, reliability, and monitoring for Live Site.
