The Hardware Developer Intern role at IBM focuses on supporting the development of high-speed SERDES interfaces for IBM Power and Z microprocessors using advanced technologies. The intern will join a team dedicated to transitioning high-speed IO architecture and will gain hands-on experience in analog circuit design. This position offers the opportunity to work with industry-standard tools and contribute to the design and simulation of complex circuits. The intern will also learn about the intricacies of developing analog circuits for cutting-edge IBM products.

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
• Relevant Circuit Design course with applied experience in circuit design
• Familiarity with Cadence and Spice tools
• Understanding of VHDL, Python, Perl, and TCL

• Assist the team in transitioning high-speed IO architecture from NMZ to PAM4.
• Design, simulate, and layout circuits using industry-standard and IBM proprietary tools.
• Work on various analog designs including transmitters, receivers, and PLLs.
• Perform schematic level design using Cadence design tools.
• Conduct in-depth circuit analysis using Spectre and spice simulators.
• Analyze designs for manufacturability and end-of-life requirements.
• Develop scripts to parse data using programming languages like Python.
